- Try doing an archie for WINIRC.EXE, not .ZIP. The documentation for the
- Windows version is the same as the DOS version...

- Yup, it's slow alright. And NetManage knows about it. But they're probably
- more worried about other things to do too much playing around with a news
- reader. I dumped NewtNews a long time ago. Instead, get hold of WinVN, it's
- incredibly fast and very easy to set up. FTP to 128.159.4.20 and in the
- directory /pub/win3/winvn you'll find the program. This site should give you
- the lastest and greatest version. If you have any problems, WinVN should
- also be at CICA.

- Subject: Unix ELM mail: a pain - Is there a Windows ELM?
-
- I read and answer personnal mail with ELM, using FTP Wtnvt VT220 emulator
- to log through an ethernet link, to a UNIX box where the mail is waiting for
- me in user/mail/my_account_name as it is for many ELM users.
- This is "a pain" for a Windows user, as I have to use the VI (village idiot) editor
- or the builtin editor, the key have to be remaped for delete, backspace etc..
- All characters are (often slowly) echoed by the server: " a royal pain".
-
- Is ther any winsock application that would log on my account,
- - ftp the mail file (always the same name) to my PC,
- - delete the file in the server (may be ftp a copy with a different name, just in case
- something want wrong,
- - let me reply by SMTP protocol directly from the Windows/ PC,
- - then append whatever is left of the file after messages have been removed, to the
- message file that may now contain newly received message on the server,
- - and delete the backup file on the server.
-
- Help, where is there such a pearl, I am losing my sanity with VI

- Hmmm.... talk to the folks at Frontier Technologies. SuperTCP 3.0 is by

- Write to sales@frontiertech.com or tcptech@frontiertech.com. Unfortunately,

- Yea, there is a solution - dump NewtNews and use Trumpet!
-
- Personally, I use Chameleon for the dial-up, but use other shareware programs
